Chandlar Austin went 3-4 and Isaac Nelsen went 2-3, helping Sioux Falls Post 15 West to a 6-2 victory over Hartford on Friday at Crofton.
Austin singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings and Nelson singled in the second and fifth innings.
Kyle Gulbrandson racked up nine strikeouts in the Sioux Falls Post 15 West win. Gulbrandson allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk over seven innings.
Blake Svoboda couldn’t get it done on the hill for Hartford, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out eight.
The top of the first saw Hartford take an early lead, 1-0. Hartford got things going when Aaron Mallinger singled. A groundout by Nate Maslowski then moved Mallinger from first to second. Dylan Masterson singled, bringing home Mallinger.
Sioux Falls Post 15 West didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the second inning when it scored on a two-run double by Connor Hurley.
Sioux Falls Post 15 West added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nelsen started the inning with a single, scoring Garrett Powell.
One run in the top of the seventh helped Hartford close its deficit to 6-2. A passed ball set off Hartford rally. Gulbrandson ended the game by getting Tyler Renken to ground out
