Despite hit advantage, Sioux Falls Post 15 West drops 7-6 game to Pierre

Sioux Falls Post 15 West lost 7-6 in seven innings at Kelly Field on Saturday, despite outhitting Pierre 11 to eight.

Isaac Nelsen racked up four RBIs on two hits for Sioux Falls Post 15 West. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Garrett Stout got the win in relief for Pierre. Stout pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs.

Nelsen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

The bottom of the second saw Pierre take an early lead, 1-0. After Quinn Reimers singled, Pierre kept the pressure on Sioux Falls Post 15 West pitching, as Joe King singled, plating Reimers.

Sioux Falls Post 15 West pushed two runs across in each of the fourth, sixth and seventh. In the fourth, Sioux Falls Post 15 West scored on an RBI single by Austin Wise, scoring Hunter Thompson.

It didn’t take long for Pierre to respond as it scored three runs of its own in the sixth. Pierre scored on a three-run home run by Reimers.
